Low Overall Taxes

The most common tax in Mexico is called IVA (Value Added Tax), it s 15% plus the value of any product or service excluding houses. Another common tax the ISR (Tax on Rent), which applies only if you receive any income while in Mexico. Tourists in Mexico are not allowed to work, they must change their immigration status to receive a work permit.

Property Tax

Capital gains tax is deductible once a year in Mexico. Some foreigners declaring according to the laws in their home country are able to deduct capital gains tax from Mexico in their country.

In Mexico there are no "Estate Laws" or "Gift Tax Law", to pay. So overall you pay less taxes than in the U.S.
